Thank you for joining me as I navigate life with intentional contentment.

I really believe that true contentment MUST be intentional. My goal is to rid my life and body of as much anxiety, stress, and chaos as possible.

What are we doing here?

Pour yourself a coffee, tea, or a giant milkshake, and come sit down with me. I will be sharing stories, thoughts, and Bible passages regularly. This blog venture is for my own peace of mind and focus as well as to help and encourage you to find the kind of real contentment that will bring joy and peace in life’s unpredictable circumstances.

Time for introductions.

My name is Kayla. I am a Christian, a wife, and a mom of 3 awesome kids. Currently, I am staying at home with them. We homeschool and have started a furniture flipping business as a school project and for vacation money. My husband is working on his dissertation while teaching at the local high school and working as an associate minister. He is most likely graduating at the end of the year. Our oldest child will be graduating high school in a couple of years. I’m not sure what will come about after all that, but I am looking forward to the possibilities.

As a blogging newbie, I am still working on getting set up. I will eventually be able to send updates and encouraging emails to help you focus on intentional contentment along with me. As for now, please introduce yourself in the comments, and let’s build a community that lifts each other up and points out blessings rather than flaws. The internet could some more of that.

Choosing Intentional Contentment While Moving Toward Goals

There are some things I would love to do before our kids start moving out on their own. One of those things is a road trip. I don’t mean a quick weekend trip. The kind of trip I want to take is an epic one. I would love to spend the whole summer traveling to as many states as we can. Maybe we could work our way up to becoming full-time travelers? Maybe we would decide a summer is long enough. In either case, we would make core memories with our children. We only get to keep them for so long. Sure, they may all stay around the same town forever. They may not. Maybe they will live with us into their mid-20’s. Maybe they won’t.

My husband and I want to create big memories with them this year, and they are at the perfect ages for it. We have been on several trips as a family, but those trips lasted a weekend up to 2 weeks. We have definitely made some fun memories. Right now, though, our kids are at a great age for an epic trip. Our kids are all old enough to remember it and may even give their ideas for what to do and where to go. They are also young enough that they still live with us. We are still a little family unit. We want to maximize this time while we can.

Maybe we will get to go on a long trip like that. Maybe something will keep that from happening. Either way, we will find contentment in this stage of our lives. We will do our best to make the most of each day, intentionally. Each day is a new opportunity to be intentional with our time, attitudes, and choices. I am choosing to see the blessings in front of me. I am choosing a contented life. Join me.
